UAE AI-Assisted Lawmaking Now Operational

On 14 April 2025, the UAE Cabinet approved the launch of the country’s first integrated regulatory intelligence system, aimed at improving the precision and speed of lawmaking. A new Regulatory Intelligence Office has been established to monitor the real-time impact of laws on the public and the economy and to centralise local and federal legislation. This initiative supports the UAE’s National AI Strategy 2031, which aims to position the country as a global AI leader.

The AI-powered system is expected to accelerate legislative drafting by up to 70 per cent. However, some experts have raised concerns regarding bias and transparency in AI-driven legal processes. Businesses working in compliance, legal, and regulatory affairs will need to adapt quickly, implement tools to track regulatory updates, and actively participate in public-private consultations to influence early-stage policymaking.
