Last Wednesday, Reda Hegazy was invited to participate on Judicial Training Institute of the Ministry of Justice on the experts role in maritime disputes. Mr Reda said “My lecture focused on the role of legal experts in light of the Supreme Courts provisions that experts should be fully aware of the legal principals in how to prepare reports, avoiding legal breaches or mistakes which may be give rise to the courts ignoring the report or enabling parties to object and throw it out.
We looked at the expert’s scope of work based on the courts appointment, the rights of the parties (that must be adhered to), and how experts can avoid nullification of their reports? Further insight was provided on how an expert can amend any legal mistakes whilst preparing their report; as well as the experts rights to increase his fees through the courts; and what opinions does the law disallow him to declare in his report”.
